How to Remove an Image Background Cleanly
Choose a suitable photo, inspect difficult edges and save a transparent PNG with the browser background remover.
Automatic segmentation estimates which pixels belong to the main subject. It works best when the subject is sharp, fully visible and clearly different from the background.
Treat the first result as a draft. Inspect hair, fur, fingers, transparent products and edges where foreground and background colors are similar.
Choose a source the model can understand
Plain or softly blurred backgrounds are easier than crowded scenes. Strong backlight, motion blur and missing edges reduce accuracy.
For product images, include the complete object with a little space around it. For portraits, avoid cutting through hair or shoulders before processing.
Understand threshold and softness
Threshold can remove faint leftover background, but high values may erase light clothing, thin hair or reflective edges. Edge softness can reduce jagged outlines but can also blur hard products.
Change one setting at a time and compare the full-size preview.
Check transparency properly
A checkerboard indicates transparent pixels; it is not part of the image. Test the PNG over white, dark and colored backgrounds to detect halos.
JPG cannot store transparency. Converting the result to JPG will replace transparent pixels with a solid color.
Respect image rights and context
Removing a background does not give permission to use an image. Confirm copyright, privacy and model-release requirements for commercial publication.
Do not use editing to create misleading evidence or impersonation. Keep the original for reference.
